This was a really fun wedding to shoot at the Natural History Museum near USC in Los Angeles. I was shooting as a 2nd with my friend Serena Montenegro for her company Serene Image Photography.
We started 2 hours before the ceremony with the couple, and where having so much fun, we could have shot at least an hour longer.
This is a great example of why you want to pre-shoot and give a lot of time.
We photographed the couple together, individual and then with family. And with all the great locations, and three floors to cover at the museum, there still could have been more to shoot.
When you see great pictures on photographer’s sites, even if they look casual and photojournalistic, it takes time to get from location to location, get the couple in the right spot and then shoot. And not everyone is a model, so it takes time to work with couples to loosen them up and get natural photos. It sounds like a lot of time, but trust me, it's just a drop in the bucket. We even shot more after the ceremony.
Shoot time at each new location probably only last 10 minute, but it takes another 10 to walk to next and another few to set up and shoot.
